Next Board Meeting:

7:00-8:30 PM, Tuesday, May 22, 2012
Armstrong Management
6074 Franconia Road
Alexandria, VA 22310

A few residents and non-residents with dogs have not been cleaning up after their pets when walking them around the community. They have left the wastes along common areas and in neighbors' yards. That is a violation of County law and Community rules. If you see anyone leaving their pet's wastes, please take a picture of them, their pet and and location, and forward the photos with the time/date information to the Board for action.

According to the Reserve Study recommendations, it is time to renovate the asphalt on our community roads. The Board will be soliciting proposals shortly, to commence work this Spring. The work is expected to be done over two days, taking half of the community at a time to minimize disruption of traffic. Please be aware that when this happens on your side of the development, there will be no street parking or vehicle traffic allowed for that day. We will send and post notices in advance.

With the arrival of warmer weather, street parking has once again become an issue. Residents are reminded that Visitor parking areas are for guests and visitors only, not residents. Open parking lanes are also not for extended or continuous use. The GGHOA Parking rules are available here.

Many residents still have low water pressure in their units. The problem was earlier thought to stem from crimped water lines from the original construction. However, later information indicates the problem results from the distribution from Fairfax County and a poor build plan by the developer. In response to a letter from the GGHOA President, Fairfax County has responded. The bottom line is that individual residents who want to have increased pressure must install water pressure boosters at their own cost. A few of us have bought units online and had a plumber to install them for a total cost of about $1300 (which is half the estimate 3 local plumbers quoted over the past 4 years.) The background information under Items of Interest has been updated to reflect the latest information.
